Historical Exhibition
100 Years of Hampstead Garden Suburb

Hampstead Garden Suburb: 100 Years
The Exhibition, at the Church Farmhouse Museum, Greyhound Hill, Hendon NW4 4JR, telephone 8359 3942, includes a map and listing of celebrities who have lived in the Suburb such as Elizabeth Taylor, Harold Wilson, Ali G, Rachel Weisz to name but a few. There is the collection of trophies and personal memorabilia, some of them donated by Dame Henrietta herself, that has never been seen in public before; things that may be familiar to Suburb residents such as old photographs and maps; and documents from the Coming of Age celebrations in 1928 and the 1957 Jubilee attended by Princess Margaret.
The permanent collection is housed on the ground floor; three rooms with period furniture show an 1820s kitchen, an 1850s dining room and there is also a period scullery. The Centenary Exhibition is on the first floor. A visit is well worth the effort. The stairs are rather steep and not suitable for everyone: as the building is listed there is no lift.
The last day is Sunday 9 September 2pm to 5.30pm. Admission is free. The Museum shop sells toys, cards, and books including books about the Suburb. Centenary souvenirs are also on sale. Pay and display car parking is available just outside the Museum.
Tube: Hendon Central (15 mins walk). Buses: 113, 143, 183, 186, 326.
