Welcome to Suburb 100

Celebrating 100 years of Hampstead Garden Suburb

Suburb The Centenary Festivities in Golders Hill Park from 12.45pm to 6pm on 24th June 2007 were opened by the Lord Mayor of London John Stuttard, pictured right with Residents Association chairman David Lewis, and by the Mayor of Barnet Cllr Maureen Braun.

Later in the evening there was the Last Night at the Proms at St Judes's where the second half, the traditional songs, were relayed outside to Central Square from about 8.45pm followed by the Centenary Firework Display organised by the Residents Association.

This year, 2007, is the Suburb's 100th birthday. Henrietta Barnett, its founder, cut the first sod in 1907. So this is a time for celebration!

The Suburb is a special place and we want to celebrate this major landmark in our history and where we live in a really big way. We're aiming to include something for everyone. The idea is not only to glance back but to look forward to our future.
